That's good news for sellers who might worry about being on the hook in the case of customers returning items using bigger boxes and more expensive shipping services.

eBay for Business podcast hosts Kayomi Kayoshi and Jim "Griff" Griffith said eBay charges the seller no more than the amount they paid to ship the item. They were answering a ... Read More

A longtime eBay seller and autographs expert was the victim of an eBay bot designed to detect policy violations, but when he appealed the listing-removal, a human representative deferred to the bot.

The seller explained in a letter to EcommerceBytes:

"While other companies are implementing Artificial Intelligence, eBay is using Artificial Incompetence or maybe AS (Artificial Stupidity).

"Today they removed my Michelle Obama Deluxe Signed Edition book listing that was not only bought factory sealed directly from Barnes and Noble, but later authenticated by James Spence Authentication, which is listed at the top of eBay's "recommended authenticators."

Sellers reported problems with eBay's listing tool that has prevented them from listing on the marketplace for at least 2 days, but it has not been added to eBay's list of known technical issues, and the eBay System Status dashboard is down. Sellers also experienced a glitch involving FedEx shipping labels, but eBay deemed that issue resolved on Wednesday.

Listing Glitch - Acknowledged, but Status Unknown
An eBay moderator acknowledged a glitch reported on numerous threads on the eBay Technical Issues discussion board on Wednesday. In, "Can't LIST ANYMORE Error 111" (posted at 10:57 am), a seller reported the following problem:

Beginning April 15, 2024, Depop buyers in the UK will pay the item sale price; shipping costs; VAT or any other applicable taxes and duties; and what it called "the Marketplace fee," which is "up to 5% of the item purchase price, plus a fixed amount of up to £/$1, excluding taxes and shipping costs."

In response to hearing ... Read More

eBay Users Unable to Respond to Messages on Friday

By: Ina Steiner

An eBay moderator confirmed a glitch on Friday that prevents at least some buyers and sellers from responding to messages, a problem that may have begun as early as Thursday. A seller posted the following thread on the eBay discussion board at 1:40 pm on March 22, 2024:

"Can not reply to messages on iPhone. (Temporary disabled…maintenance). Started 3-21 pm, still down 3-22-2024. Seemed to work from computer."

An eBay moderator responded to the original poster, writing the following at 2:03 pm:

"Product team is aware of the issue with messaging and is currently working on a resolution."
