Etsy 'Favorited Item' Popup Has Unintended Effect

****But it’s worse then that….****

If the Favorited item is sold, I receive the message…

“Don’t miss out on the item you favorited.
Only 0 left in stock”

How pathetic!

How bad is Etsys engineering when Etsy never thought how they should handle this new feature when the item is sold.

This new feature sounds like Etsy is desperate for Sales and is willing to annoy the Buyer. Sounds to me that someone’s job is on the line if the cannot produce more sales.

Ahh yes.  Another direct manifestation of Etsy’s recently admitted unannounced, uncoordinated ‘tweaking’ they’re constantly doing.

Speaking of POPUP BOXES ... each time I get a new NEWSLETTER from eCommerceBytes in my eMail and CLICK to read a story I do find there is always a POPUP BOX that I have to CLOSE before I can continue reading.  The POPUP asks me to join the mailing list ... but, of course, I already have.  It would be NICE if I did not have to CLOSE the POPUP each time to read the story.

I think etsy is probably the biggest shopping joke on the internet. If you search for a purse you get cars - books you get pans - really - who goes there anymore? Not me and talk about absolutely no customer support - really?? it's like talking to kids at home. Forget about it

I will never understand why it is that just about EVERYTHING Etsy does seems designed to screw the sellers.  Are they a bunch of sociopaths or what?

Does Etsy cover the 40% discount or do they make you work at a loss and threaten your StarSeller trinket?

Yes, this is incredibly annoying. Their other feature that is very annoying is a reminder that something in my cart is in danger of being sold out. What I do when I get that popup  is remove it from my shopping cart or ''save for later'' at which time I forget about it.

i was in this test,for a year, including the left side slide reminder. And now I  have  nothing... (my reward?)

and ALL sites  have  pop ups, even ecommercebytes.

just hit the X and remember, nobody died.POV:  If that is the worst  thing you have to worry  about, you're doing  pretty good..

Pop-ups.  They're very much like the annoying "constantly in your face" television commercials,(think the Lume deodorant lady or ambulance chasing attorneys).  You get to the point where you wouldn't purchase a bottle of water from them if you were dehydrating in the desert.

@MARK NICHOLS - Yes, the pop-up box for this email newsletter has been bugging the heck out of me too. Obviously I'm subscribed to it if I'm reading (or trying to read) it, right?

This morning I was on Home Depot, Amazon, eBay and Macy’s. All sites have NO pop-ups.

So no, not all sites have pop-ups. Etsy’s aggressive pop-up ads will stress out the Buyer if the Buyer cannot relax when shopping.

Can’t wait for Etsy’s earnings next month. Something tells me they won’t be great.
