eBay Hamstrings Sellers' Ability to Research Competitors

You can still look up sellers using eBay's Advanced Search - this is strictly about the Terapeak tool that lets you analyze a seller in-depth.

My items don't compete with lots of other sellers so I'm not directly affected, but for those who are, this clearly sux.

It's still nice to go back years to see what stuff historically sold for. It was always fun to poke around and see what kind of sales competitors are getting.

We'll still be able to visit an eBay profile and filter "completed" and "sold" listings.

We use Terapeak for years, however - I think the best way to have a full research is to integrate other solutions, like Algopix (that provide insights regarding other marketplaces and logistics) or Jungle Scout (product hunting @ Amazon)

Does ebay have a paid service to see completed results from years back?

I would pay $1 a month to have access to that information.

Ebay is more like fishing than bustling commerce, if you get a bite take it. IME i've noticed a huge difference of what things are ''worth'' versus the actual value that people are willing to pay. Ebay is full of fixtures, items that are listed at stratospheric prices that have not sold in years. What is the point? All ebay's policies have succeeded in doing is killing auctions by making buyers afraid to bid. Frankly, is there any real competition anymore, especially against the Chinese and BIG boxes?

Just another way for ebay to keep sellers in the dark. Another valuable tool stripped from sellers.
Just one more reason to find another venue.

Terrapeak was useless to us anyway as it was always restricted (by eBay) to top level categories only in our area of interest.

well, I have complained to terrapeak a few times because all our product photography contains our name and a copyright symbol. Yet they continue to use our proprietary pictures. They finally removed all our pics from their website.

I too have used terapeak for years. This was very disappointing news to me. This service is how I know who is beating me out in China and who my actual competitors are for various other items. (And I like to see my name on the top spot #1!)
I will check it out next week and see if it can be of any help to me at all. I am on a yearly plan so not sure how or when I can get out at this point.
ebay's completed and sold searches do not work very well at all for me.
The amazon part really does not seem to work very well or I have not used it to my advantage, so not sure if there is anything I need terapeak for anymore, we'll see.

Not sure why ebay would allow any other company this access instead, if it is a secret for one, it should be a secret for all. As for item research or hot items, that is not really something I have use for most of the time. I would probably not buy a yearly subscription just for that. Some competitors do have their name or distinctive photos, that could help but certainly does not make it easy.
I guess the only bright side is that your competitors will not be able to research you that effectively either.

Another ripoff. Register, query and get told it is a premium feature. No service.

there is no search by seller on Wuanto.com. Tried searching for my own items and was unable to find even one.
Not reliable as far as I can tell.
