Avoid Panic Attacks by Checking Amazon Priority Actions

Some sellers panicked last month when Amazon displayed a banner warning them their accounts were at risk of deactivation, with no clear reason provided. It turned out it was meant as an advisory to sellers that they needed to go through the account verification process again as required by the Inform Act.
Sellers began seeing the alarming notice the week of April 8th; a month later, on May 7th, Amazon published a low key notice to sellers on the Seller Announcement board that, "Starting in April 2024, if you have 200 or more transactions or $5,000 or more in revenues during a continuous 12-month period, you will receive a formal notification to review and certify that your business information is correct."
That's little solace to those who were struck with terror when they encountered the threatening banner warning last month, but it does provide a potential way to avoid such scares in the future: check the Priority actions section of the Account Health page under "Review your account information." Checking that periodically might be a best practice.
A better idea would be for Amazon to publish a notice before displaying the kinds of notices it displayed to sellers in April, but that's something sellers don't have control over.
In the May 7th Amazon announcement, it wrote, "Although you will need to certify that your information is up to date at least annually, you should keep your business information current at all times, and you can update your information anytime by going to your Account Information page in Seller Central." |
