Users Unable to Cancel Transactions on eBay UK

eBay UK informed users of a glitch that won’t let users cancel transactions – a pretty major issue for a retail site. “We’re aware of an issue when trying to cancel a transaction on eBay.co.uk. We’re working to solve this and apologise for any inconvenience,” according to the announcement.

Because eBay punishes sellers for issuing refunds to buyers for cancellations not initiated by the buyers themselves, eBay UK said it would remove such defects from those impacted in order to protect seller accounts.

“In the meantime, we advise you to wait until tomorrow to cancel your transaction when we expect that you’ll be able to process them as usual,” eBay UK wrote.

You can view the announcement on the eBay UK announcement board.

And view other seller-reported problems on the Ecommerce EKG Board.

Update: eBay issued the following update on Friday:

You can now process your cancellations as before. You’ll again see the cancel option in the resolution centre where you can initiate your cancellation.

We’ll send you a further update when the new cancellation process will be available. In the meantime, please ensure you cancel your transactions in the resolution centre when you issue a full refund via PayPal to avoid an unintended cancelled transaction (out of stock) defect.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused and we’ve taken the following action to protect your selling accounts. For the time period affected, we will automatically remove defects that resulted from sellers using PayPal to issue full refunds to buyers in the absence of the cancel feature being available.
