eBay users are unable to leave feedback for their trading partners. Some sellers have taken to the eBay discussion boards and the Ecommerce EKG board to report the problem. In a bit of poor timing, eBay chose the very time sellers are having problems leaving feedback for buyers to encourage them to do so through a post on its site on Thursday.
“As all experienced sellers know, great communication – and building positive relationships with your buyers – are key to creating long-term successes on eBay. An essential part of this communication is feedback: when you leave positive feedback for your valued buyers, you help encourage repeat business, you showcase to others that you are a pleasant seller to purchase from, and – most importantly – leaving positive feedback for buyers encourages them to leave positive feedback for you.”
But as one seller reported on the Ecommerce EKG board, “Unable to leave eBay feedback for buyers. Instead of the feedback going trough, a message (in red) appears: “Can’t leave feedback for the selected listing(s).” This has been going on all day and with many different buyers.”
Another seller wrote, “Talked with CSR for 15 minutes. She says they are having a System Problem with Feedback. June 26, 2014 @ 12:45 PM EST.” And a seller wrote on an eBay discussion board thread about the glitch, “I have called eBay to report the Issue, they are telling me it could take up to a week to fix.”
We sent an inquiry to eBay this afternoon to learn if buyers are also having problems leaving feedback for items they’ve purchased and when users can expect a fix.
Several workarounds were suggested, including using eBay’s mobile app to try leaving feedback. Another seller wrote, “I did figure out that if I don’t use my regular feedback and use a custom feedback each time, it will work. But, that is not the way it is supposed to work.”
Indeed, eBay’s advice to sellers on Thursday was to leave Feedback in bulk. “With this easy-to-use feature, you can leave Feedback for as many as 200 buyers at one time – right from the Sold view.”
