Brian Burke to Replace Rich Matsuura as Director Global Seller Trust

Brian Burke will replace Rich Matsuura as eBay’s Director of Global Seller Trust after Matsuura left the company early this month. eBay spokesperson Ryan Moore confirmed the departure, telling EcommerceBytes, “Rich decided to leave eBay to pursue new opportunities about a month ago.”

For those who might be wondering about the timing of the departure, Matsuura said it was unrelated to eBay’s recent data compromise, something confirmed by Moore.

Matsuura said he’s close to signing on as CEO of a 15-person startup. What he liked about eBay was helping sellers and working with people, he said, and that’s the sheer focus of the whole organization he’ll be joining. It was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up, and is not completely outside of ecommerce, he said.

As for the timing, Matsurra said it was a good time to leave. “The seller protection team is still there and they won’t slow down with me stepping away.” They will carry the momentum he and his team brought to the area 2 years ago.

Matsuura joined eBay in 2005, and in March of 2012, he was named Director of Feedback and Seller Protection, a role in which he was responsible in part for protecting sellers from bad buyers. A year ago, he became Director of Global Seller Trust.

Brian Burke has been with eBay since 1999, most recently as Director of Global Feedback System.
