Etsy announced a new test in the way it displays feedback on listing pages. Currently, Etsy displays reviews in two places – one called Feedback with a visual 5-star rating, the other just showing the stars. The test, conducted on desktop (not mobile), will eliminate one of those placements.
“We’re beginning a test on the desktop version of Etsy that will remove the Feedback link from the Overview section on the right side of your listing pages,” Etsy said.
The company went on to explain that the Feedback currently links to a shop’s reviews, which are already visible towards the bottom of each listing page. “By removing repetitive information, which may be confusing to buyers, we hope to improve their experience as they browse your listings.”
As with other tests, some users will continue to see the Feedback link in the Overview section, while some will not.
“Over the next few weeks, we’ll be monitoring buyer behavior to make sure that removing the Feedback link has a neutral or positive impact. This kind of testing helps us make informed decisions before we decide to move forward with a change. As always, we’ll be sure to keep you posted about any permanent changes to Etsy.”
Etsy moved to the 5-star feedback system in August of 2013.
