Some types of traffic are more valuable than others, and Amazon is recognizing that through a new Bounty program for affiliate advertisers. Bringing a shopper who buys an item is great, but what about a shopper who signs up for a membership program, such as Amazon Student?
Amazon is offering its affiliate advertisers rewards through the Bounty Program as it works to attract certain shoppers – including students, brides and new parents – who sign up for its membership programs.
The new Bounty Program allows affiliates (called associates) to earn fixed advertising fees when their visitors try out Amazon services and membership programs. “Simply promote the participating programs and when your visitors complete the required action, you are eligible to earn the designated bounty amount,” Amazon explains.
For example, if an affiliate sends a visitor to Amazon who signs up for a free trial to its Amazon Student membership program, Amazon will award the affiliate with $3. Likewise, affiliates receive $3 when brides and grooms create a Wedding Registry at Amazon, and $3 when parents sign up for the Amazon Baby Registry.
And when they send visitors who signup for the FREE Kindle Reading App, affiliates receive $1.
The bounties for sending traffic to those programs took effect on June 16. Amazon was already giving affiliates $2 for visitors who signed up for a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime, and $25 for cell phone purchases with a service plan.
