eBay sellers have until June 4th to change their eBay Store subscription plan without incurring a penalty after higher rates went into effect earlier this month. While sellers have a choice of subscribing on a pay-as-you-go basis, those who pay on an annual basis to get the yearly subscription discount must usually pay a penalty if they make changes in the middle of their subscription.
As part of the 2016 Spring Seller update announced on April 5th, eBay raised Basic and Premium Store subscription fees by 25% and Anchor Stores fees by 75%. There’s been lots of confusion about whether eBay would impose a penalty for sellers who wished to change plans due to the change in price.
According to an eBay FAQ, “Sellers with an annual subscription have 60 days after this Seller Update (until June 4th) to change their Store level without a penalty. You may also cancel your Store subscription until June 4th without incurring early termination fees (if they apply). To make changes, please go to My eBay.”
eBay is also adding some perks to Store subscribers, including offering dedicated customer service for Anchor Stores beginning in July. For sellers with an Anchor Store, don’t forget you now receive a Promoted Listings credit of $25. Promoted Listings is an advertising service exclusive to items bought and sold on eBay and is currently only available to active eBay Stores subscribers in the US, UK, Germany, and Australia. In addition, Promoted Listings are only available in certain categories.
