Etsy Acknowledges Photo Bug on Mobile App

Sellers identified a bug on Etsy’s mobile app that prevents shop owners from uploading photos via Shop Update. An error displays with a message that the picture is too small. It’s interesting to note how many sellers rely on the mobile app to keep listings up to date.

The problem began about 10 days before Christmas for some users – others said it had been happening for longer. On December 27, Etsy posted on the Bugs discussion board that it was able to replicate the error and would investigate.

One seller said the updates had been working fine until the latest Sell on Etsy app update. “I can not upload pictures anymore to the shop updates, it says the image size needs to be larger, I’ve tried every size and no luck. I’ve reinstalled the app and shut down my phone, and no luck!”

Other sellers who had missed the earlier reports opened a new thread on Tuesday morning describing the same problem.

An Etsy moderator responded Tuesday afternoon: “This is a bug our engineers are currently working on fixing in the Sell on Etsy app for the Android. We hope to have this fixed really soon and our apologies for this inconvenience!”

The reports came from sellers using Android devices. The description of the Sell on Etsy app on the Google Play app store shows it was last updated on December 17th; “We update the app every two weeks to maximize performance and user happiness. This update has a few minor tweaks and bug fixes.”
