eBay UK Rolls Out Fee Changes in Spring Seller Update

eBay is rolling out its biannual seller update worldwide. In the UK, sellers can expect some fee changes – many impacting the auction format listings.

eBay UK will impose Final Value Fees when business sellers end auctions early after a bid has been received (based on the price of the item when the auction is ended). eBay is also increasing the fees for adding a buy it now option to auction listings and for setting a reserve price on eBay.co.uk.

eBay UK is increasing Final Value Fees in some Home & Garden and Lifestyle categories from 10% to 11%. eBay UK will also cap Final Value Fees at 50 pounds in two categories in Home & Garden and Sporting Goods, meaning fees will decrease for higher valued items above 500 pounds – those two categories are Garden & Patio and Sporting Goods.

And eBay UK is making the “supersize” picture option free for business sellers.

Changes to Seller Feedback
eBay is also rolling out new seller performance standards as it will do in the U.S. beginning in August. eBay is doing away with two DSR criteria and putting into place transaction defect rate: see this story on the U.S. Spring Update for more information.

Changes to Duplicate Listing Policy
eBay UK will remove the limit on the number of duplicate auction listings a seller can list – however, until a buyer has placed a bid on one of the duplicate listings, only one will display on eBay.co.uk at any time.

Once a listing receives its first bid or ends, it is no longer considered a duplicate and the seller’s next auction listing for the same item will automatically appear on the site.

Other Changes
eBay UK will roll out the new eBay Store design (called eBay Shops in the UK). And eBay will promote its international selling program to sellers as part of the release.
