eBay Launches Social Features to UK Marketplace

eBay launched a set of “social” features in the U.S. last year and has now made them available on its UK marketplace. Hailing it as a “whole new way to discover the things you love on eBay,” eBay said in October it was evolving the eBay shopping experience with new features designed to further personalize shoppers’ time on eBay, including “collections” and the ability for users to “follow” other users or collections.

For this week’s launch in the UK, eBay partnered with personalities: pop star and fashion designer Dannii Minogue; presenter, writer and actor Reggie Yates; designer, entrepreneur and author Kelly Hoppen MBE as well as musician, writer and cheese-maker Alex James. Each of them handpicked items from eBay to create “Collections.”

eBay UK’s Senior Marketing Director Sarah Calcott said, “The way we shop is changing. Shoppers are in the driving seat like never before and rightly expect an experience that’s both fun and functional. That’s what eBay Collections is all about: the fun of browsing and discovery, that’s shoppable. These new features are part of the biggest suite of changes we’ve introduced to eBay in the UK and they’re designed to help shoppers follow their passions.”

More than a million eBay Collections have been created since the feature launched on eBay.com in late 2013.

eBay UK users can learn about the new features on the eBay UK Collections home page.
