eBay Enhances Visual Shopping on Its Mobile App

eBay launched a feature that enhances visual shopping capabilities on its mobile app. Jonathan Chard, Lead Product Manager of Mobile Experience at eBay, explained the feature in a post, “eBay Makes Visual Shopping More Intuitive While You Browse.”

“Our newest experience helps you find more products you just can’t describe,” he begins. “You’re browsing on eBay and you see a pair of shoes that catches your eye. You like them, but you want to explore your options. Now it’s easy to discover more of what you like with a tap.”

Chard explained that it’s a feature that combines eBay advances in computer vision with relevant filters. “It’s leveraging existing technologies and putting them together in a way that creates a seamless, intuitive shopping experience.”

Chard and his coworkers took an idea to eBay’s 2018 Hack Week where they were able to work on it.

Not sure how this feature works or how it differs from eBay’s other visual shopping features? It’s best to view the video accompanying his post.

“By combining pictures and words, this new experience empowers our customers to explore eBay and discover items that they may not have known how to describe,” he said. It’s currently available on eBay iOS and Android apps in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Australia.

  1. I have had customers that have told me that they tried to bid in an auction on the App and coudn’t. The App is a bunch of garbage!

    eBay = Dead Man Walking

  2. anther waste of money for something that will not work.

    if only they would put money into fixing search and unhiding listings they would be better, not this stupid garbage.
