How 15 Basketballs on eBay Can Add up to $18.90

You don’t have to be an online merchant to earn money on eBay – just take a look at the Earnings Calculator on the eBay Partner Network (ePN) homepage. It shows members of the affiliate program can earn $18.90 if they send traffic to eBay that results in purchases of 15 basketballs.

That’s just one example of how much revenue eBay affiliates can earn – you can check out the calculator on the ePN homepage and find many other examples in various categories. eBay launched the feature as part of its newly designed website.

Being a seller on eBay and being an affiliate are not mutually exclusive. We checked in with the eBay Partner Network and confirmed that eBay sellers can participate in the ePN program.

In fact, sellers can point to their own eBay listings on their blogs and social networking accounts and earn money on sales of their own products.

eBay also noted some good news for affiliates of its program and others – social networking site Pinterest is allowing the use of affiliate links on its site again after banning them last year.

Since Pinterest is good at driving shoppers to websites, allowing “pinners” to use affiliate links could prove to be good news for eBay sellers.

Also new to the eBay ePN website is a bookmarklet tool, which is currently in beta testing. It allows members of the program to easily create affiliate links for any eBay page that they can then share – they then receive credit for driving traffic and for any resulting sales. You must log in to the Publisher Portal and click on Campaigns to try the new tool: “It’s simple,” according to eBay: “Drag the bookmark icon from a campaign to your web browser’s bookmark folder. Then, when you find an eBay page to share, simply click the bookmark to see a popup with your affiliatized link.”

eBay also touted mobile-friendly reporting. “Though it may not be apparent to the naked eye, we’ve updated the underlying system that our website is built upon. This allows us to increase stability and paves the way for the introduction of new tools and resources to improve your experience with EPN. For example, we’ve implemented a responsive design and eliminated Flash in our reporting section so you can view reports on any device, at any time.”
