Amazon has tweaked selling fees in European markets. UK publication Jewellery Focus included the following statement from Amazon about the impact on jewelry and watches, two of the categories impacted by the fee change:
“This equates to a 50% reduction in selling partner referral fees for a €1,000 watch sold in Germany and a 61% reduction for a £700 jewellery item sold in the UK. This change is expected to benefit customers by enabling selling partners to list a wider range of competitively priced jewellery and watches.”
The Amazon Selling on Amazon Fee Schedule page for UK sellers shows the new Referral fees took effect on June 5, 2019, and are broken down by country site.
In the UK, for example, there was a flat 25% Referral fee in the jewelry (“Jewellery”) category, and as of June 5, it became:
- 20% for the portion of the total sales price up to £225.00
- 5% for any portion of the total sales price greater than £225.00
Other categories impacted include Baby Products; Beauty; Furniture & Decor; Grocery & Gourmet; Health & Personal Care; and Watches. Check the chart for the exact changes to each category; for example, in the Baby Products category (excluding Baby Clothing), the Referral had been a flat 15%; it’s now 8% for products with a total sales price up to €10.00 and 15% for products with a total sales price greater than €10.00.
Amazon charges sellers additional fees as well – be sure to review its website carefully for all the details, and the fee structure for the US Amazon.com marketplace is available on this page.
