Etsy kicked off a marketing campaign in the UK. It’s working with five “influencers” who will post about the campaign on their social media accounts, giving exposure to Etsy and its sellers.
Etsy explained that it posed five classic summer style dilemmas to the five influencers, and they’re looking for suggestions from their followers “for the perfect fit.”
At the end of every week during June and July, the influencers will select their favorite submissions from the #EtsyForMe campaign and will feature it on their Instagram accounts. Etsy will also publish their posts on the @EtsyUK Instagram account.
Etsy introduced the social influencers in the following paragraph in its announcement:
“Perhaps you’ve got a whole host of gorgeous decor suitable for family barbecues, kid’s parties or gatherings with friends? Model and presenter, Georgia Jones is your girl. If it’s more of a festival or holiday vibe that you cater for, with capsule wardrobe-worthy fashion, get your suggestions in to style maven, Sophia Rosemary. Outdoor/indoor transitional spaces are the theme of choice for self-confessed, interiors-obsessed Lisa Dawson, and if your wares are perfect for sprucing up the spare room, share them with textile artist, Mary Maddocks. Finally, for everyone creating keepsakes and future heirlooms, new mum Candice Brathwaite is looking for all things nursery-related.”
Etsy has the details on its UK blog where you can also find the campaign schedule.
Last time I saw Etsy longtime sellers commenting about that site, they were discussing their discouragement with the new Ceo and his drive to allow Chinese sellers to flood the site.
This campaign sounds desperate.
