eBay Australia Adds Unique Code to Address Labels

eBay announced it was adding a unique code to the address line of all orders. It didn’t divulge the reason for the special code, so it’s unclear if this feature will be rolling out to other sites.

eBay Australia Announcement follows:

In October, we will be adding a unique code to address line one for all eBay orders. The code will be a combination of the word ‘ebay’ plus seven case-insensitive alphanumeric characters (e.g. ‘ebay: 97sT3JJ’). This code will appear on your postage label as below, but won’t impact the delivery of your eBay orders.

Do not remove or interfere with this code, to ensure the validity of tracking information associated with the delivery. If you are using an external label printing portal, be sure to add the code to address line one of the label.

Note: An image of a postage label showing the new field is included in the announcement post.
