Etsy Adds Search Functionality to Its New Store-Hosting Service

Etsy announced some enhancements to its store-hosting site, Pattern by Etsy, which it launched in April. Sellers can choose to pay $15/month to have every one of their Etsy listings appear on their Pattern site with unlimited storage and no additional listing fees. (You can read the initial announcement on the Etsy blog postfrom April 5th to learn more about the Pattern stores.)

While it is remarkable is that it didn’t have search until now, sellers should know they can now turn on search in their Pattern stores by following these instructions: “Search can be turned on within the Style settings in your Pattern dashboard. When enabled, a search icon will display within the heading across all pages of your Pattern site.”

Sellers discussed the addition of search functionality on the Etsy seller boards, including this thread where sellers hailed the move.

Other new features announced on Tuesday include the following:

A new theme option: The Gingham theme is similar to one of our most popular themes, Mosaic, but includes a greater ability to feature your unique branding. Accent colors are displayed more prominently across your Pattern site, with the option to display your shop icon front and center on your homepage. We’ve also added a subtle zoom effect when a buyer hovers over a product image on your homepage or a category page.

Gallery image display: Buyers can now click on listing images on a product page to open an enlarged gallery image overlay, which allows them to browse photos easily in a slideshow gallery format.

Desktop / mobile preview toggle: Easily toggle your site preview window between how your Pattern site appears to buyers on desktop / laptop computers and how it appears to buyers using a mobile web browser. Ecommerce continues to grow on mobile platforms, and this toggle gives you the ability to preview a mobile shopper’s experience on your Pattern site.
