In 2015, a Record Store Day co-founder called advance eBay listings “fraudulent,” according to the LA Times. Three years later, eBay is collaborating with the organizers of what the Times called the “well-liked annual small-business event that gives a cash boost to indie stores with exclusive items.”
This week, eBay announced it is launching, in collaboration with Record Store Day, the Authorized Reseller hub on eBay.
It made the revelation in an announcement about its “first ever Vinyl Obsession Week” on its marketplace.
“Exclusively this week, eBay has something to offer to every music-lover, including a limited-time vinyl coupon offering shoppers 10% off purchases valued at $50 or more, top-selling bundles provided by specialty record label Rhino Records, and a free, three-month HiFi TIDAL subscription to those who purchase select vinyl records from eBay seller get_importCDs.
“Additionally, select signed vinyl and artist memorabilia with all proceeds benefiting Musicians On Call and the GRAMMY Museum Foundation. Inventory includes 3 signed copies of ‘PLAY’ – a two-part mini-documentary directed by Dave Grohl with help from his Sound City/Sonic Highways collaborator Mark Monroe, celebrating the rewards and challenges of dedicating one’s life to playing and mastering a musical instrument. The advanced pre-order from Dave Grohl includes a 23-minute, one-man-band instrumental recording on which Grohl plays all seven instruments on the track, all live.”
You can find the full announcement on the eBay corporate blog – unfortunately it lacks details about the new Authorized Reseller hub or how to become an authorized reseller.
Thanks but no thanks. We prefer to buy from established honest dealers in our own community where we know scamming won’t happen. To risky to buy off of Fleecebay anymore. No more buying on ebay from us. ITS OVER EBAY AND YOU HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOURSELVES.
