eBay will run another sitewide flash sale, this one on Tuesday, August 28th. Shoppers can save 15% off using the coupon code PREGAME15.
eBay subsidizes flash sale as a form of marketing, though critics say early leaks of such promotions allow sellers “in the know” to adjust their prices upward so they can pocket the savings.
Buyers must spend a minimum of $25 in order to receive the 15% discount. The savings are capped at $100. The sale kicks off at 8 am PT tomorrow and runs through 10 pm.
eBay is excluding the following categories from the promotion: Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, and Real Estate.
The coupon code (PREGAME15) ties into eBay’s current homepage marketing message: “Football’s Back. Save Like a Champ,” which links to a page featuring items such as TVs, tailgate gear, and sports apparel. The page also features an advertisement for eBay’s ticket-sales subsidiary StubHub.

Hey Fleecebag NOT INTERESTED.
It seems like every other day there is a sitewide flash sale. When is eBay going to realize that flash sales are not conducive to sustained purchases by buyers?
The rationale baffles me…they get a boost in their bogus GMV, but suffer a net bottom line loss of 5%+ on one day’s activity.
it’s like that old SNL skit about Citiwide Change Bank…except the bank in this case loses money on making change.
It was completely useless… Did they even do it?
Every time I tried to use the code it would say it couldn’t be used yet.. and then it would say it has expired.
A complete waste of time.
