eBay Sends a Holiday Message to Sellers

eBay posted a holiday thank you message to sellers this week. An accompanying video featured Devin Wenig who took over as CEO in July after the company breakup. The gesture was reminiscent of an earlier time at eBay when Meg Whitman was CEO. Wenig’s predecessor, John Donahoe, was more focused on large brands than the bread-and-butter sellers that Wenig was reaching out to in the video.

The message on the corporate blog read: “This holiday season, eBay thanks our sellers for their passion, their business and their success. eBay sellers work hard all year long running their businesses big and small. Sellers are a critical part of what makes eBay unique and we know sellers look to eBay as a partner with a trusted platform that enables access to a global marketplace. As move forward on a multi-year journey focused on providing the best seller experience, we’d like to take a moment to thank you for everything you do.”

The accompanying video began by showing footage of sellers at work busy managing inventory and fulfilling orders for products including bicycles, baby clothes, and guitars. That was followed by shots of various managers and executives saying a few words of appreciation and best wishes.

In his soundbite, Wenig said, “To all of our sellers – the merchants and entrepreneurs, and retailers who rely on eBay – thank you for a great 2015.”

Other executives featured in the video included Laura Chambers, Global Customer Trust; Brian Burke of the Seller Experience Team; Michelle Verdugo of the Customer Experience Team; Jordan Sweetnam and Sarah Brubacher of the Seller Experience Team; Audrey Tracy and Jim “Griff” Griffith of eBay for Business/eBay Radio; and Hal Lawton and the North American Leadership Team.

Chambers specifically referenced the new standards that eBay is introducing in the New Year, which were announced as part of the Fall Seller Release.
