PayPal will open a global operations center in North Carolina in the fall. It will create 400 jobs including positions in customer service, risk operations, engineering, and technology.
PayPal Senior Vice President of Global Operations John McCabe said in a press statement, “With its strong ties to the financial community and technology savvy talent pool, Charlotte is an ideal fit for this new operations center. This new site marks an exciting opportunity for PayPal as we continue to serve our customers, both merchants and consumers and support them in using PayPal as a payments platform to shop, sell, send money or even donate to worthy causes.”
PayPal is expected to invest over $3.6 million in North Carolina by the end of 2017.
The state approved a Job Development Investment Grant of up to $2.8 million over a period of 12 years if it meets job creation requirements. PayPal spokesperson Amanda Miller confirmed this will be the company’s eleventh global operations center. Charlotte Business Journal said KMBA, a limited-liability company, owns the 70,000-square-foot building and said PayPal would presumably sublease the 35,000-square-foot space on the second floor from Red Ventures.
