Amazon Runs £5 off Sale in UK on Friday

Amazon is celebrating its 25th anniversary of launching in the UK by running a major sale. For one day only, September 15th, shoppers who spend £25 or more will receive £5 off their purchase if they use the special AMAZONUK25 in the promotional box at checkout.

However, the sale excludes items offered for sale by third-party merchants.

According to the terms and conditions, shoppers must receive an invitation by email, a push notification, or view the banner on Amazon.co.uk and visit the 25 Years Anniversary landing page where the offer is explained.

However, the promotion is open only to the first 10,000 eligible customers who satisfy the terms and conditions. The sale runs between 9:00am and 11:59pm on September 15, 2023.

Amazon UK explained in the terms:

“The Promotional Code may only be redeemed against items sold by Amazon at the website www.amazon.co.uk, excluding Gift Cards, items sold by third party Sellers (even if “fulfilled by Amazon” or “Prime Eligible”), Warehouse Deals, digital products, e-books, alcohol, baby and infant formula, e-cigarettes (including e-liquids, refills and accessories), delivery costs, or against gift wrapping costs.”

Etsy is running a similar but more generous sale, offering $5 off $25 purchases in the US, Canada and UK, that kicks off on Friday afternoon and runs through Sunday. There’s no limit to the number of times a buyer can use the code on Etsy during the promotion.

Amazon.co.uk launched in 1998 with 1.2 million book titles. In a blog post announcing the anniversary, John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager for Amazon said: “Amazon arrived in the UK 25 years ago, and a lot has changed since then. We have evolved from being an online bookseller in 1998, to offering customers millions of items including tech, toys, food, fashion, film, music and lots more. We have seen popular products stand the test of time and some trends come and go, but we know that some things don’t change – customers will always want good prices, wide selection and fast, convenient delivery options, and we look forward to delivering this for the next 25 years and beyond.”
