eBay UK is running a sitewide flash sale today through Saturday, according to members of its affiliate program, though we are unable to see any ads for the promotion on the UK website at the time of this writing.
UK shoppers can use the code PRICEWIN to receive 10% off a minimum spend of £50 through Saturday evening.
The timing of the shopping promotion is interesting – it comes days after eBay experienced major technical issues that prevented buyers and sellers from accessing the site.
It also comes at the end of the second quarter – and about a month before Amazon Prime Day. eBay has also been running recent promotions for members of its eBay Bucks loyalty program.
eBay had run frequent sitewide flash sales in 2018, but executives told Wall Street analysts it was reducing its marketing budget for 2019. And that move had consequences. eBay CEO Devin Wenig said the 6% sales decline it experienced in the US for the first three months of 2019 was an expected drop due to the significant reduction in marketing it made, especially in North America.
With this week’s flash sale in the UK, there’s no indication whether eBay will begin running such promotions on eBay.com.
