eBay Runs Another Sitewide Sale to Goose Sales

eBay June sitewide sale

eBay June sitewide saleeBay is running yet another sitewide sale, this one good for a $15 coupon off a minimum purchase of $75. The 1-day sale kicked off at 7 am (Pacific) and ends at 7 pm (or 10 pm Eastern) today, June 21, 2018.

One EcommerceBytes reader said it wasn’t as exciting as a sitewide percent-off coupon – “I think eBay is trying to avoid “having” to do those as frequently to hit revenue/GMV targets,” he said, adding that he thought the chances are quite good eBay will run another one next week.

Some believe eBay ramps up the sitewide sales (which it subsidizes) at the end of the quarter to improve its sales numbers when reporting to Wall Street.

The reader also noticed that for this promotion, eBay added gaming consoles and laptops & netbooks to the excluded categories that typically include gift cards, coins, real estate, etc. (Read details of the coupon promotion carefully!)

You can find information about the promotion on the eBay website.

  1. We recently needed a white power surger with a long cord. Bought one with an 8 foot cord from of all place Best Buy. I mean how can you screw up a 8 foot power surger. Got it in the mail . Well seems the idiots at Best Buy can’t either read or measure. They sent a black three foot one. Opened a case and best buy is questioning all aspects ( their right ) as to the color and size. So here we sit 3 days later. No power cord, no money, no return label. So off to AMAZON. Got the 8 foot white one. Cost 3.00 cheaper and using prime got it today. Happy camper. We will escalate the case to ebay support and wait. Moral is if you purchase from Fleecebay and something goes wrong you need a plan B.

Our plan B is now Plan A. Shop Amazon FIRST

  2. eBay’s sales for this quarter must be absolutely abysmal. And for every instance as “who really cares” described, another buyer picks Amazon (or another more reliable site) to purchase from. eBay may not make it to the five year estimate for closing.

  3. eBay is trying more silly idea’s to try to counteract all the damage they have done recently to sellers, large and small. People are not seeing sellers items. Plain and simple fact. If you can’t see them, you can’t buy them no matter how many coupons there are.

Here is an example of the visibility that has changed since the beginning of the year. To explain the table. The search numbers indicate visibility inside Ebay, the Store shows visibility from outside of eBay. Pretty much says it all. Notice the incredible drop in visibility within eBay as well!!!!

    Month Search Store
    Jan 445000 12178
    Feb 368000 9144
    Mar 362000 7259
    April 344000 5300
    May 331000 2420
    June 191000 0000

  4. Just another update. We had new carpet put in this week. Need a new vaccuum. Tried Ebay but for some reason ( glitch again ) we couldn’t get search to find what we wanted. Plan B. Went again to Amazon. Searched and found exactly what we needed. Bought it. And it will be delivered on Sunday with Amazon Prime. I think we are finally done with Ebay buying. I don’t have the time or energy to try and figure out their miserable site. BYE BYE

  5. I can’t wait to see the 2nd quarter end – at least we know they screwed themselves along with all of us
