The US Postal Service is reminding shoppers (and online sellers) of the deadlines to get their orders shipped in time for the holidays. Christmas is 76 days away, but it’s a good time for sellers to plan on ways to reduce the incidence of disappointed shoppers. For example, some micro sellers put their shops on vacation as Christmas nears to reduce the potential of negative feedback or marketplace sanctions for late deliveries.
Christmas falls on a Monday, making it more challenging for procrastinators since shipping carriers generally only deliver express packages on Sundays.
The USPS also reminded shippers there would be no holiday surcharge this year after 3 consecutive years of assessing the charges.
The USPS provided deadlines for domestic, international and military shipping destinations “to allow for the timely delivery of cards, letters and packages by Dec. 25th.”
Key deadlines for domestic mail and shipments – excluding Alaska and Hawaii – are as follows:
USPS Ground Advantage: December 16, 2023
First-Class Mail (including greeting cards): December 16, 2023
Priority Mail: December 18, 2023
Priority Mail Express: December 20, 2023
