Hi Ina,
Re: Amazon Raises FBA Fees and Introduces Storage Limits Policy (link)

This is insane. The end of Amazon FBA for us.

They keep changing the rules of FBA since the start.

It’s over for us. We’re done with FBA. Going to ship everything ourselves now. Sucks!

Dear Ina,
Thanks for publishing my letter concerning finding additional online venues for selling original artworks. Several good suggestions were received and are being followed up on.

Since then, something startling has happened. Yesterday, one of my partner’s steady, art-buying customers alerted him to a bogus listing, offering what was supposedly a large oil painting, identical to one that he sold on eBay late last year, naming him as the artist. It was offered by a Chinese would-be seller at $11.97 with free shipping!

The lister had a zero feedback rating. The image and text were copied verbatim from the original listing.

We will probably never know exactly what sort of scam was intended, but the upshot is that it could hurt my partner’s reputation as a seller of his own art. To its credit, eBay canceled the listing within hours of our having reported it.

Browsing original-art categories subsequently, we discovered that a Florida artist who also sells on eBay was also the object of such a scam, also perpetrated by a Chinese seller. We alerted him to the bogus listing. From now on, we will run searches of my partner’s name, daily, to catch any such hanky-panky; also, copyright information and the phrase “all rights reserved” will be added to the item description.

Today, an artist who sells prints of his original works on eBay complained that his eBay images are being copied. So, Artists, beware!

Best,
George

Dear Ina,
Is your site aware of yet another newish problem with eBay? Entering tracking on PayPal does not, any more, update your eBay tracking – eBay tracking shows no details, not sure what this does to DSRs I’ve gone past the point of caring with anything I do on eBay these days.

Others are having this problem – see link to post (eBay UK discussion boards).

Another day, another glitch…
