eBay Publishes List of Most Expensive Purchases of 2018

eBay published a list on Wednesday of the most expensive purchases made on its marketplace for 2018, reporting that some of the highest-ticket items sold for between $145,000 and $3+ million. But the announcement may be more notable because of what it did not include.

In the past, eBay has touted holiday sales the same way Amazon did today. While such releases generally don’t reveal detailed numbers, they are nevertheless opportunities for the marketplaces to brag.

Take today’s Amazon’s headline for example: “Amazon Customers Made This Holiday Season Record-Breaking with More Items Ordered Worldwide Than Ever Before.”

Record-breaking sales! But it’s a surprise to no one that Amazon had more sales this holiday season than last year; what people want to know is, HOW MUCH more?

eBay skipped the usual holiday bragging, instead publishing “the 20 Most Expensive Purchases of 2018”:

  10. 2013 Robinson R-44 Raven II Helicopter: $325,200
  11. 2014 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Coupe: $319,900
  12. 2014 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta: $319,000
  13. 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maybach S 650 Cabriolet: $318,000
  14. 2000 Tom Brady Championship Ticket: $250,000
