Etsy Sellers Can Try Free-Shipping Promo Tool Risk-Free

Etsy

Etsy logoOver half of the shoppers Etsy surveyed in August consider free shipping to be a very important factor when purchasing an item. Etsy is encouraging sellers to use its new sales and coupons tool to set up free-shipping promotions during a preview period when shoppers won’t see the test promos, giving sellers the courage to try out the tool.

In an accompanying article, Etsy said it knows shipping isn’t really free and that it isn’t right for everyone, but said “the perception of your prices and the value your customers feel like they’re getting makes free shipping a powerful marketing tactic.”

Announcement follows:

The only thing better than finding the perfect Christmas gift on Etsy? When that gift ships for free. Etsy shoppers agree: More than half of the buyers we surveyed in August said free shipping is a very important factor in their decision to purchase an item. So we’re giving you the ability to easily run and manage free shipping promotions using the sales and coupons tool.

You can create a free shipping sale the same way you create a percentage-off sale using the sales and coupons tool in the Marketing section of your Shop Manager. Check it out here.

We’re in the seller preview period for free shipping sales so you can create a free shipping offer in your shop starting today, but shoppers won’t see it yet. Here’s how we’re going to make free shipping promotions available to shoppers:

October 9: A limited number of shoppers will see your free shipping offer through new “free shipping” search filters, and “free shipping” badges on listing cards for relevant listings.

October 16: We plan to make free shipping promotions available to all shoppers.

Learn more in the Seller Handbook. We’ll be answering your questions about this tool through September 27 in this discussion thread.
