eBay kicked off a listing promotion encouraging sellers to list more items, but it appears there are variations. One version applies to fixed-price listings, and some sellers said they received an invitation for the same promotion but applying to auction listings.
eBay is also including free subtitles as part of the promotion – but as one seller warned, participants should be wary about relisting the items after the promotion when the charges for subtitles will kick in – “I predict we’ll be getting lots of outraged “extra fees” posts in about a month when they relist,” the seller wrote on the eBay boards
The promotion also gives sellers a discount on using Value Pack. It kicked off on August 20 and runs through August 26th. eBay advertises, “The Promotion only applies to listings with 30-day or Good ‘Til Cancelled duration, and does not apply to relisted or renewed items, final value fees, or optional upgrade fees.”
Because eBay is running overlapping promotions, there have been reports of conflicts. For instance: “Another Heads Up,” a seller warned. “I just listed some women’s clothing. It took them out of the new auction promo and not the clothing one. Which means I got the free subtitle, but NOT the free Buy It Now. I would have rather had the Buy It Now, but it’s free, so I guess I can’t complain! 🙂 Just wanted to let clothing sellers know that it will take clothes out of the new promo first.”
See eBay website for details and restrictions, and be on the lookout for variations as well.
