eBay Publishes Holiday Shopping Report

eBay published a holiday shopping report highlighting top-trending gifts in fashion accessories, electronics, pop culture favorites, gaming, sports, and more.

eBay’s “Most Wanted” report is based on the marketplace’s sales data and a team of “gifting experts.” Don’t expect detailed data – the report lists five popular items in various categories. For example, under “90s Inspired Toys,” eBay lists the following toys: Hot Wheels; Marvel X-Men Retro 6 in Action Figures; Super Soaker; 30th Anniversary Polly Pocket Partytime Surprise Keepsake Compact; Cabbage Patch Kids.

Sam Bright, eBay Vice President and General Manager of Merchandising, said in the company’s announcement, “As one of the world’s largest and most vibrant marketplaces, we’re able to look at shopping behaviors to surface up the most wanted rare, retro and right now gifts for the holidays.”

He pointed to some of the items featured in the report: “For 2019, we’re seeing increased interest in nostalgic Nintendo devices and games following their 130th birthday this year, trending mini crossbody bags seen on celebrities and influencers alike, and all-in-one kitchen appliances like the Ninja Foodi as the new Instant Pot of the season.”

You can find the announcement on the eBay corporate blog, where you’ll find a link to the report in PDF format.
