eBay Adds 12 Countries to UK Global Shipping Program

eBay is expanding its global shipping program in the UK with the addition of 12 countries. In late May, the program will add the ability for shoppers in 12 new countries to purchase from UK sellers through the eBay UK Global Shipping Programme: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

The UK program currently consists of the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, and the US.

eBay UK told sellers the Global Shipping Programme is an easy way to reach millions more buyers with minimal changes to their current processes. “It works by automatically showing international postage costs on your eligible listings to prospective buyers in the above countries at no additional cost to you.”

It told sellers they can opt out of the program at a listing, country, or account level at any time, and reminded sellers of the protections offered through the program:

    • You can get automatic 5-star ratings for dispatch time and postage & packaging charges when you provide free domestic postage and your handling time meets certain conditions.

  • You’re protected from negative or neutral Feedback and ratings lower than 5 stars due to loss or damage to your item in international transit or delayed delivery.

  • You’re not responsible for loss or damage by third-party carriers once your item is in international transit.

eBay recently announced the hiring of a new director of shipping and logistics to expand the UK Global Shipping Program and its click and collect package-pickup program offered in partnership with Argos department stores, explaining that Mike Pitt is tasked with helping it provide convenient, low-cost shipping options to buyers.

The full announcement is found on the eBay UK announcement board.
