eBay Canada expanded its Promoted Listings ads – now all Canadian sellers in good standing can participate in the paid-ad program. Previously sellers had to be Top Rated or be a Store subscriber in order to advertise their listings on eBay.
While that’s good news for those sellers who want to pay to promote their listings but hadn’t been able to, it also means that those sellers already in the program may end up paying higher rates. Sellers choose the rate at which they pay for the ads (as a percentage of an item’s final sale price), and greater competition may force sellers to raise their rates to continue to get extra exposure through the program.
eBay expanded the Promoted Listings ad program in the US last month. As we noted at the time, eBay CEO Devin Wenig had made it clear in January that he would focus on two areas to generate revenue as sales stutter: advertising and payments.
eBay Canada announced the expansion of Promoted Listings on Wednesday.
good to see that the fleecebay money grab is spreading.
hopefully the Canadian sellers will not fall for this nonsense
