Dear Ina,
FYI, in 20+ years of being an eBay seller/buyer not based in the USA, I have had only one parcel from/to Russia disappear and that was in Singapore during transit. I have NEVER been swindled by any of my trading partners in Russia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, China or any other country but one.
Conversely, several times I have been swindled or had articles stolen by “trading partners” in the USA, and endless times I have been right royally screwed by eBay’s GPS (Godawful Shafting Program).
So which nations should be trusted as business partners? Go figure,…
Best wishes to all honest traders for a happy year in 2019,
Charles

@ Charles, in almost 17 years of selling, I have never had a problem with shipping anything to any of the formerly Communist block countries either. I have had trouble with Spain and Italy, and a few from the UK. Thankfully I don’t have a lot of problems, but the packages going from my state to any other one has had trouble and I find that the buyers are more belligerent and even though they can see that on the tracking, it left my home, left my PO, got to their PO and is now showing as delivered to their home, that somehow it is my fault that they can’t find it! The last time I had to deal with one of these buyers, on a Saturday night when the PO wouldn’t be open again until Monday. They will send multiple emails wanting me to do something all evening, they send them and I tell them the best thing that they can do is check with their PO on MONDAY! Then a week later when I heard from her, she had her package but sounded very aggrieved that I hadn’t done something more from her like give her an immediate full refund, fly to her residence in my own corporate jet (not that I have one) and look on her front porch for her on Saturday night or something. I find it fascinating that they somehow seem to think that we had their package the whole time and were just playing games with them or something. They are ridiculous and I don’t know what our country is coming to as these people become the ones in charge of things. Nothing is ever their fault, they have no patience. When I started selling, waiting 1-2 weeks for a book to arrive and a week or more for first class mail. Now they expect it in seconds! Or in at least a day or two.
