eBay Launches Seller Repricing Tool from Decide.com

eBay launched an analytics and repricing tool that helps sellers analyze sales and make improvements. It’s currently available only to certain sellers in certain geographies and only to managed accounts in the U.S.

Decide.com built the tool after eBay acquired the company last year. Decide had originally offered a service that helped shoppers determine the right time to make purchases. As we noted at the time, eBay acquired Decide in order to provide data to its marketplace sellers.

eBay spokesperson Ryan Moore told EcommerceBytes, “The insights tool is currently in beta and being utilized by a subset of sellers in various regions, including the US, UK, Australia and Germany.” He said eBay would expand it to broader seller groups in each region in 2015.

eBay Insights was announced as part of the Fall Seller Release for eBay UK sellers and is available to sellers who have an Anchor Store subscription (or Shop as they’re called in the UK). It’s designed to do the following:

    • Analyse sales and inventory: Track your performance and identify growth opportunities.

  • Compare against competitors: View listings side-by-side to see what’s working and what’s not.

  • Gain actionable insights: Optimise your listings to increase sales based on daily price, inventory and title recommendations.

eBay Insights provides UK sellers with sales data, average selling price over time and inventory analysis, such as stock out alerts. It also provides impressions, sales funnel metrics and conversion rate. And it identifies listings that have the potential to perform better against competing items, “so you can easily act on pricing, title or sourcing recommendations.”

Clearly third-party developers can relax, as this isn’t a sophisticated repricing tool and from its description, seems more suited to lower-volume sellers. For example, changes must be made manually.

eBay UK explained that sellers can choose to accept its recommendations using the Edit listing button on the “Recommendation details” page, in which case a new browser window opens and redirects them to the listing tool where they can revise listings and submit changes. Sellers using a third-party listing tool can export recommendations to a CSV file.

Former Decide CEO Mike Fridgen remains General Manager of Seller Insights for eBay in Seattle. More information about the tool is available in this Youtube video and in the eBay UK Fall Seller Update.
