Etsy Offers Advice on Getting Featured ahead of Holiday Marketing

How does Etsy determine which sellers and products to feature on its website and through its marketing channels? It’s a timely question as holiday marketing will soon gear up, and Etsy shared some tips with sellers, including advice on how to earn an “Etsy’s Pick” badge.

Etsy’s Picks are items that have been chosen by one of its merchandisers, also known as “style experts” from shops that have shown quality, reliability, and style, Etsy explained. “The badge helps buyers easily identify special and unique items, so they can shop confidently knowing your item represents the best of Etsy,” and Etsy reviews them daily to ensure quality and reliability factors are maintained.

Etsy provided the following tips to improving the chances of getting featured:

  • Focus on photography;
  • Make your shop easy to find;
  • Ensure an excellent customer experience;
  • Ship smoothly;
  • Avoid policy violations;
  • Strive for 5-star reviews.

It provided more details on how to accomplish those tasks in a forum post on Tuesday with links to even more information. It also published an article in the Etsy Seller Handbook with tips on getting featured on Etsy and in its marketing channels, including marketing emails.

One such tip: “Tell your story,” where Etsy explained, “A completed and well-crafted About section can help you get found for a feature.”

Other tips included, “Keep your social media accounts active” and include a link in the bio to your Etsy shop (“While this isn’t a requirement, it does help when the team is selecting which accounts to feature.”)

With the holiday shopping season approaching, it seems Etsy may be on the hunt for shops and items to feature.
