PRC Redesigns Website to Help US Postal Service Customers

The Postal Regulatory Commission redesigned its website to make it easier for postal customers – including online merchants – to file reports and find information. The PRC is an independent regulatory agency that oversees the United States Postal Service, authority that extends to mediating complaints about service.

Among the key features of the redesigned PRC website are three selections prominently displayed on the homepage: Active Cases, Daily Listings, and Consumer Assistance.

The Commission also established a social media presence through the Twitter feed on the homepage as an additional path for keeping the public up to date on certain Commission activities.

The Postal Regulatory Commission provides regulatory oversight over the U.S. Postal Service to ensure the transparency and accountability of the Postal Service and foster a vital and efficient universal mail system. The Commission is comprised of five Presidentially-appointed and Senate-confirmed Commissioners, each serving terms of six years. The Chairman is designated by the President. In addition to Acting Chairman Robert G. Taub, the other commissioners are Vice Chairman Tony Hammond and Commissioners Mark Acton, Ruth Y. Goldway and Nanci E. Langley.

More information about the PRC’s role as a resource for mailers and online sellers and its complaint processes is available in this EcommerceBytes article from 2011, “Postal Service Complaint Department, Open for Business.”
