Dear Ina,
Please do more news on openbazaar and their recent news they had about going public. I would love to sell online again but would never consider eBay and others like them. I appreciate your paper.
Len

Dear Ina,
This is on the CBC online news. The article points out that StubHub – owned by eBay – “not only enables but rewards industrial-scale scalpers who gouge fans around the world”.

Same old eBay, I guess………anything to get money out of people, whether it’s
legal or not.
Michael

Dear Ina,
I’ve sold on eBay since 2011 which was a good run for about 2-3 yrs. Since mid-2014 and all thru 2015 online sales declined on my eBay store… and in my novice-opinion this happen for a few of reasons, but I just mention the top couple that (I think) caused the downward sales decline for small eBay sellers like me.

First of all, Net-Neutrality happened and this caused a domino effect for the entire Internet… online searches changed and Google changed to become its own world practically!

Now, online Application App-platforms are becoming the way to sell… PoshMark & Mercari seem to be leading the way. Have you heard of any others?
Jennifer

Dear Ina,
Never a dull moment in eBay land. Our sales of collectibles have been down 50.2% this month.

We discovered that ALL our active listings (and any new ones we put up manually thru eBay) have the “immediate payment required” box checked even though that has never been our intention.

eBay recommended bulk editing to change that. We did twice. But it just reverts back. Called eBay on this three times. The third rep FINALLY admitted that this is a known problem that they are working on.

Must be costing customers a small fortune and sellers don’t even know it’s happening.

Sincerely,
Lori

Dear Ina,
I may have missed it, but have any of your readers evaluated or commented on Google’s “Offer Up”?
Ray

  1. This is in reply to Lori. Unfortunately Lori eBay rep is not telling you the truth. This is in fact intentional. eBay have enforced immediate payment (as a test) to eradicate no paying buyers. One of the worst eBay decisions ever as it forces the buyer to pay postage on every item & it killed my overseas multiple purchases dead overnight. My sales have dropped 60% ever since..
