Classifieds App OfferUp Adds UPS as Shipping Option

Last year, mobile app OfferUp added the ability for users to sell classifieds nationwide by adding payment and shipping capabilities. Today, it announced it has integrated with UPS shipping and lowered fees up to 67% on larger items.

It reminded sellers to check labels carefully as it will automatically select which carrier to use (USPS or UPS), whichever is the lowest-priced carrier for the item the seller is shipping. “We use both UPS (most items) and the USPS (very small items) as shipping carriers,” it said.

It included a table showing the shipping costs:

Items weighing 0 – .5 lbs will ship USPS and cost $3;
Items weighing .5 – 3 lbs will ship UPS and cost $7;
Items weighing 3 lbs – 10 lbs will ship UPS and cost $10;
And Items weighing 10 lbs – 20 lbs will ship UPS and will cost $13.

OfferUp blog post announcement follows:

OfferUp Shippers Can Now Use UPS — and we’ve lowered all the fees!
Great news! We’ve added UPS as a shipping carrier for our larger package sizes, and lowered all of our shipping fees — saving you up to 67% on larger items.

OfferUp lets you sell items anywhere in the continental U.S. When you sell an item and make it available for shipping, we send you a pre-paid shipping label, and you get paid through the app directly into your bank account.

For packages heavier than .5 pounds, we’ve added UPS as a shipping carrier.

Important: Check your shipping label before you put it on the box. We use both UPS (most items) and the USPS (very small items) as shipping carriers. Your label will tell you which one you’ll use. We choose to use the lowest-priced carrier.
